America's economic problem, as I see it, is this:
Back in the seventies, the Savings and Loans were looted by bankers and the taxpayers had to pick up the tab. Fast forward 30 years and the bankers have again looted the entire country.
The imminent collapse of our dollar is having a ripple effect throughout the entire global economy. But there is one difference. Thanks to the darling of the Democratic party, Bill Clinton, there are no decent jobs left in the good ole USA. People with jobs pay taxes. This decline of jobs was accomplished by passing NAFTA which sucked all the manufacturing jobs to Mexico and then provided low interest rate loans and gifts to India to upgrade their infrastructure.
To what end, you might ask? Bingo, our technology rolled out to India as quickly as it rolled in. As a result, cities, counties, municipalities and the federal government itself are all at the point of bankruptcy. An argument can be definitely made that the US is already bankrupt. The reason being is that people no longer have good jobs and millions are unemployed. Unemployed people don't pay taxes and there lies the problem. In Utah, they eliminated the senior year of high school because the taxes aren't there to pay for it for all their kids. God help us all, they're going to be less educated in Utah.
I gave money to Obama during his campaign and voted for him. Sarah Palin scared the begeezus out of me and I couldn't vote for a man that's had cancer more times than I have fingers and toes, with Sarah Palin waiting in the wings to have her finger on the nuclear trigger. That was completely unacceptable. There should be a minimum standard for a position such as this and about 10 notches above her head is where it should be placed so that we never have to run the risk of her sitting in the Oval Office again. So I was voting against McCain/Palin and for Obama/Biden.
I had very high hopes for Obama but he showed his stripes when he gave nearly a trillion dollars to the bankers -- our money, taxpayer money -- for them to turn around and loan it back to us with interest. Sweet deal for the bankers, huh! So they clapped each other on the back, gave each other a reach around and bonuses and bent the taxpayer over for the last ride.
In summary, we're broke. We can't pay for health care and it ain't gonna be free. I understand the unfortunate plight of many, but Obama sold you, me, and the American public out when he gave the money to the very people who caused this problem. They were making loans for houses to anyone who could fog a mirror.
As an aside, when my wife and I bought our house we only spent about 70% of what we were approved to buy. I remember that number and it was a big one to us and there was no way I was going to saddle myself with the kind of payments that would have incurred had we used all the credit they gave us to buy a house.
The bankers then took those loans, bundled them up together as bonds and rated them AAA. These bonds were then sold on the open market to investors. Unfortunately, Bill Clinton's NAFTA and the Indians took our good jobs. No money, no house payment, no jobs, no taxes. Millions have lost their homes and have had to go through their life savings. The investors lost their money, too. This is not something from which the US will recover. The United States government is bankrupt and there is no longer a large middle class to support it. This country is becoming one of the "super haves" and the "super have nots."
The government is trying to prop up the economy in the only way it knows how, by lying to "We the People" through its mouth-piece, the corporate media. Seems like every day I hear, "good news in unemployment, it's down from 9 and 1/2% to 9 and 1/4%." This, of course, is absolute horseshit. The fact is, they have changed the model by which unemployment is measured. If we were measuring unemployment today using the same mathematical formulae used in the 1930's to measure unemployment, it would show very clearly that our current unemployment rate sits around 22% and at the height of the "great depression" (an unfortunate phrase) unemployment was around 24%. So the American taxpayer is screwed. His government represents only those who can fill their coffers with more cash and folks like you and me are left with taxes but no representation. Our voices cannot be heard over the loud thuds of duffel bags of cash being dropped into the hands of our "representatives."
Obama could have used that money to set in motion the kinds of projects that got us out of the last great depression: public works projects. Instead, he gave it to the bankers. How many jobs could he have created at home had he decided to create a rail system like they have in Germany? Instead we have Amtrak. I know one time I checked on a ticket from Dallas to Denver, because it's cheap. Well, if you have 3 days to travel on each end and don't mind going through Chicago along the way to Denver, it's fine.
With regard to Obama's health care program, it won't be "free" I assure you. There isn't the money to pay for it in our coffers and the real point is there won't be, thanks to all these people who first figuratively robbed us of our ability to pay taxes by outsourcing our jobs and then literally robbed us and gave the money to the very decision makers who caused this problem.
I strongly oppose this program and its President. He is no friend of the people as he made himself out to be. He is nothing more than a silver tongued devil in a suit.
The real problem is this: we are so divided in our ideologies that it is counter productive for us in reclaiming our rightful heritage under the Constitution. We must have a national paradigm shift in thought to address the problems of our country. We, meaning most of us, are stuck in the Republican vs. Democrat, Right vs. Left, and Conservative vs. Liberal ideology. The only hope we have is to join together, all of us. It's no longer about anything other than, Us vs. "Them" period!
I advocate throwing these bums out. All of them. If they are an incumbent then they are part of the problem, not part of the solution. The only candidates who will get my vote are Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul. Other than these two, all incumbents will be voted against in favor of independents and Libertarians.
I was a Republican and then we got Reagan and Bush. I voted for Reagan and it was a mistake due to voodoonomics or trickle down economic theory. It's been trickling down on me for years and it's not rain. So I became a Democrat and was for many years, and even thought Clinton was a good President until I had time to start educating myself in history and politics. As I previously stated, I was completely taken in by Obama. The only thing I can think of that we gained is a President who can compose a sentence without breaking the laws of physics. In my opinion, that makes him even more dangerous than Jr.
There is only one thing a government fears and that is a people united against it. I'm not violent and I'm not advocating violence. I am however strongly advocating getting involved at the grass roots level to begin a movement that will bring about change peacefully, but in order for that to happen people need to wake up and realize that their government, whether it be predominately Democrat or Republican, the results will be the same, an ATM government where corporations put their money in and get industry friendly legislation in return. It's a classic quid pro quo, something for something. Our job, as I see it, is to make sure that when they sell their vote, even once, that they lose their seat in front of the trough.
